KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia holds press breakfast on major changes to the new Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On 17 January, Almaty was the venue for the first press breakfast by KPMG in Kazakhstan and Central Asia for local business mass media. The meeting was conducted by Tax & Legal Partner Rustem Sadykov, and was dedicated to the main provisions of the new Tax Code which came into force in Kazakhstan early this year.

“Our main goal is to introduce KPMG vision of Tax Code’s key points and the relevant future law compliance practice to journalists and editors-in-chief,” commented Rustem. The press breakfast dwelled on the following:

  • New Tax Code’s focus on motivating taxpayers for good practice and stimulating it, including the upcoming introduction of horizontal monitoring
  • The continuing focus on transferring tax burden to the extractive industries
  • New taxation rules for controlled foreign companies
  • Introduction of horizontal monitoring

After the event, the mass media representatives commented that it’s very effective to hold such interactive events with sectoral professionals in order to enhance the understanding of current business and economy agenda.
