On 30th November 2019, the world celebrated St. Andrew’s Day, the patron saint of Scotland. To celebrate this day, the British Chamber held an event in Barmaglot Bar in Atyrau on 29 November 2019.
Saint Andrew's Day marks the beginning of the traditional Advent devotion of the Saint Andrew Christmas Novena. In Scotland, and many countries with Scottish connections, Saint Andrew's Day is marked with a celebration of Scottish culture with traditional Scottish food and music. In Scotland the day is also seen as the start of a season of Scottish winter festivals encompassing Saint Andrew's Day, Hogmanay and Burns Night.
The event was kindly sponsored by Bolashak and Rapid Solutions.
The Scottish themed evening including Whiskey tasting, bagpipe music and it was attended by 100 people – Chamber members, partners and guests.
Prizes were raffled among guests and kindly provided by Air Astana, Parmigiano Group, Renaissance Hotel Atyrau and Ritz Carlton Almaty. Whisky for tasting were kindly offered by Diageo.
A great time was had by all.
