The British Chamber in Cooperation with the Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity of Kazakhstan (ACBK) Held an Event Devoted to Corporate Engagement in Conservation of Biodiversity in Kazakhstan on 28 March in Almaty.

The purpose of the meeting was to explain the existing experience of attracting businesses to solve the problems of biodiversity conservation in Kazakhstan and to show the possibilities of working in this direction for British companies and to identify areas for mutual interests.

Examples of successful projects of the ACBK and other businesses in Kazakhstan include:-

  • Studies for conservation of saiga (Caspian Pipeline Consortium-Kazakhstan)
  • Projects on wolves, steppe eagles, rare species in Aktobe region, kulan, attraction of birds to mountain forests and others. (ERG - SSGPO, Kazkhrom, TransKom)
  • Studies on the preservation of the snow leopards (Carlsberg Kazakhstan).

There are number of promising current areas where businesses can provide substantial support with visible results.

After the official presentation, guests had an opportunity to talk in an informal atmosphere.
