The British Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan in cooperation with the NarXoz University hosted a round table on the “Gender Economics Review in Kazakhstan: Gender Pay Gap and Women's Entrepreneurship" on February 21, 2019 in Holiday Inn Hotel. The event included a panel discussion, where representatives of civil society, international organisations, the private sector and entrepreneurs shared their knowledge and experience in this field.
During the event, the NarXoz University presented the results of studies on gender economics conducted by scientific fellows during 2018.
The purpose of this work was to analyse the existing concepts of gender stereotypes and gender wage differences, to identify the determinants of gender wage gaps, to assess the discrimination level of women in Kazakhstan and to compare the findings with those obtained in other works, as well as analysis of women's entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan and substantiation of scientific and practical recommendations for the development of women's entrepreneurship in the country. The study was funded by the Soros Foundation in Kazakhstan and the NarXoz University.
